ONE of the world's most highly acclaimed brass bands is helping North-East youngsters celebrate an anniversary.
Yorkshire Building Society Brass Band, the European and British Open champions, will be playing at the Empire Theatre, Front Street, Consett, on Saturday.
The concert will be the last in a series organised to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Consett Junior Brass.
David Jackson, musical director and founder of Consett Junior Brass, said: "We are delighted that Yorkshire Building Society Brass Band is playing in Consett.
"It is an exciting event, not just for the band but for the whole community. We are looking forward to an extremely special and entertaining evening."
The audience will be treated to a varied programme that will include pieces that the band played to win the British Open Championships such as Jupiter, from the Planet Suite by Gustav Holst.
The concert starts at 7.30pm and tickets, priced £6 for adults and £5 for concessions, are available from the box office on (01207) 218171.
