The country's biggest insurance firm, Aviva, today announced plans to shift 2,350 UK jobs to India.
The company, which trades as Norwich Union, will move 2,000 backroom jobs and 350 call centre posts.
Norwich Union employs more than 4,000 workers in North Yorkshire and the North-East.
