Pupils at Bedale High School formed three rock bands which battled for the honour of playing at the Upper School Christmas Ball later this month.
Lead Roses and Random Riffz from year 11 and Insyte from year ten were given the chance to impress the judges but, in the end, the panel was unable to chose and named both Insyte and Lead Roses as the winners.
BBC charity event Children in Need was also a winner, with students who watched the bands and took part in other money-spinning events raising £1,046.49 for the charity.
