THE family of a long-serving football club official has thanked the club for its support after his death.
Robert Hardman was the safety officer at Darlington's Feethams ground for several years before leaving to start his own company, All Events Security.
The club asked him to return to the role when it moved to its new all-seater stadium, The Reynolds Arena, on the edge of town.
He remained in the role until his death last week, aged 55, following complications arising from a heart-bypass operation.
The club held a minute's silence for Mr Hardman before last Saturday's home game against Scunthorpe and arranged for the family to watch the match from a VIP box at the ground.
Mr Hardman's daughter-in-law, Marie, said: "The main people we would like to thank are Carol Barnett, Ken Lavery, Steve Wood and the whole staff.
"We'd especially like to thank Gordon Hodgson. He's been absolutely tremendous, both at the club and in helping my husband in trying to keep the business going.
"We must give a really big thank you for everything the club's done for us."
