ARSONISTS set fire to a couch left outside a Redcar home on Tuesday evening causing damage to the house.
The residents of the house in Boxer Street on the Lakes Estate, which suffers from arson attacks, had put their old settee outside the house about three hours before firefighters were called on Tuesday evening.
Fire from the blaze damaged the porch of the house and smoke from the furniture damaged ninety per cent of the property.
Leading firefighter Chris Spurden, from Redcar Fire Station, said: "There are problems on the Lakes Estate with arson and there are ongoing initiatives to deal with them including arson reduction teams.
"There is also a dedicated police officer who deals with arson in the Redcar and Cleveland area."
