AN event to provide employers with advice relating to new disability discrimination laws was held at Middlesbrough's Riverside stadium yesterday.
It was organised by national employment charity, Shaw Trust, which provides training and job opportunities for people disadvantaged by ill health, disability or social circumstances.
Shaw Trust's area manager for Teesside Karen Stubbings said: "The event was held to raise employers' awareness of their responsibilities, in line with the Disability Discrimination Act 2004.
"There was some practical advice and support relating to employing someone with a disability, sustaining a current employee, available funding, advice on equipment and support, and an opportunity to network with people from support services."
