AMATEUR photographers have taken part in a competition which focuses on the stigma attached to mental health problems.
One in four adults will suffer from some form of mental illness during their lives.
This figure was the theme of a photographic competition, organised by the Tees and North East Yorkshire NHS Trust, which was won by Dean Bailes.
A spokesman from the trust said: "We are delighted with the quality and innovative use of imagery interpreting the one in four theme, so much so, that we decided to run the exhibition for the full twelve months of 2004.''
Runners up were John Doyle, Nicholas Murray, David Harris, Gillian Wilson, Sallie Cooper and Wendy Harris.
The photographs will be shown in an exhibition which starts in Hartlepool Central Library this week and will travel around the region.
Further venues for the exhibition can be found on the trust website www.peoplelikeus.nhs.co.uk
