HOTELS and leisure clubs group De Vere drew encouragement from recent booking trends as it announced a 5.3 per cent rise in annual underlying profits.
The group behind Northumberland's Slaley Hall hotel and golf complex said its key brands had outperformed the market during the year.
Peter Daresbury, chairman, said: "This is another good set of results by the entire group. Trading patterns remain volatile, although recent booking trends are more encouraging."
The De Vere chain, which has 21 hotels with 3,310 rooms, achieved a 2.4 per cent rise in revenues per available room (revpar) in the year to September 28 - a two per cent fall has been seen across its equivalent market, De Vere said.
It put the improvement down to a robust approach to pricing - a stance it said was possible because of the strength of the brand.
Like-for-like revpar at Village Hotels grew 2.1 per cent to £41.17 after a high occupancy of 79 per cent and a rise in the average room rate.
