County Super League Championships: Steve Thompson of Durham B and Alison Harrop of Consett Stateside won the Durham County Super League Singles Championships played at Sacriston Daisy Hill.
There were 46 entries in the men's competition with Sue Seal marking a mark for the ladies by reaching the last sixteen. The quarter finals results were Steve Thompson (Durham B) beat Michael Burke (Crook A); Dave Harrop (Durham A) beat Gavin Witton (Crook B); Paul Armstrong (Shildon A) beat James Evans (Horden); Paul Hickman (Horden) lost to Chris Bowran (Durham A).
In the semi-finals Steve Thompson beat Dave Harrop 4-3, whilst Chris Bowran beat Paul Armstrong 4-1.In the final Steve Thompson beat Chris Bowran 5-3.
The Ladies Singles Championship was played for the Chris Curry Memorial Trophy with twenty entries, including Ann Curry, Chris's twin sister. The quarter finals results were Barbara Patterson beat Janne Makepeace; Ann Curry beat Sue Seal; Andrea Hudspith lost to Alison Harrop; Clare Tritton lost to Helen Littlewood.
In the semi-finals Barbara Patterson lost to Ann Curry by 3 frames to one and Alison Harrop beat Helen Littlewood by three frames to two. Alsion Harrop won the final by four frames to one.
After an excellent day's play the officials, Barry Dowson (Chairman), Clare Tritton (secretary) and Stephen Liddle (treasurer) thanked everyone for their dedication and support, whilst all the players reciprocated by thanking the officials for their work throughout the year.
The Super League ends with an away County match at Cleveland on Sunday, 14 December.
Bishop Auckland and District League
The first qualifying stage of the League Doubles Championship was held at eight venues with the winners from each moving into the next stage. The winners from Willington Brewer's Droop were Stephen Webb and John Collinson of Henknowle Manor. The winners from Crook White Swan were Chris Peacock and Stephen Lowther of Bishop Auckland Derby. The winners from Spennymoor Weardale were Michael Hoggart and Paul Willey of Bishop Auckland Snooker Club.
The winners from Bishop Auckland RAFA Club were Andrew Delve and Stuart Milne of Bishop Auckland Derby. The winners from Crook Olde Horse Shoe were Paul Biddle and Steve Hunter of Spennymoor Ash Tree. The winners from Witton Park Rose and Crown were Barry Thexton and Paul Frame form the Rose and Crown. The winners from Bishop Auckland Snooker Club were Paul Thompson and Wayne Hewitt of the Snooker Club. The winners from Crook Coach and Horses failed to inform the league secretary.
Tow Law Scottish Courage League
Tow Law Rose and Crown severely dented their hosts, Tow Law Dan's Castle A's chances of landing the Championship when they stretched them to the limit before going down by the odd point. The Castle had the advantage in the singles where they had singles wins from Lee Stockdale, Colin Armstrong, Ian Johnson and Gary Watson, whilst Lee Mowbray and Paul Howcroft replied for the visitors. The Castle edged to victory when Lee Stockdale and Anthony Hird managed to take on of the three doubles.
Sunniside Comedian closed the gap at the top to only one point after they only dropped two points to the visiting Tow Law New Market B, who took the first two points with singles wins from Tom Hauxwell and Michael Bell. The Comic then took over with Ray Johnson, John Hildreth, John Conley and Dave Walton taking the remaining singles before adding the three doubles.

Willington & District League
Sunnybrow Brown Trout slipped to their second defeat of the season when they visited Byers Green Royal Oak and went down in the deciding doubles. The singles were shared when Jeff Morrow, Anthony Binks and Ian brown won for the Royal oak with Tony Atkinson, Les Blackburn and Harry Sewell levelling. The first two doubles were shared but the Oak went to victory when Stephen Hibbert and Michael Waters beat Les Welch and Steve Richardson.
Willington Burn made a good away win over the Prospect Club by three points. The home side only took two singles points through Keith Hirst and Kath Nyland. The Burn moved ahead with singles points from Martin Rooney, Joe Chatterton, Stephen Kyle and Andy Irwin. The Burn completed their win by taking two of the three doubles.
Sunnybrow Brown Trout lead the table by four points with the second placed, Byers Green Royal Oak four ahead of Willington Cottles B who have a match in hand.

Auckland Area League
Bishop Auckland Grand A entertained Spennymoor Hillingdon, who took an early lead when Dale Briggs and Baz Walton won the first two games. Shaun Reynolds and Rob Dalton levelled the scores before Ian Smith gave the Hillingon a 3-2 lead. Michael Keen and Darras Jones put the hosts one ahead before John Bulmer levelled things up. Rob Dalton and Shaun Reynolds again worked their magic to win the final two singles games and take a two points lead. This inspiration was just what their side needed and from then on they didn't lose another game. Chris King combined with Simon Gillespie to take the first doubles and Michael Keen with Darras Jones took the second. Lee Ellison took the captains to complete a fine recovery for the Bishop side.
Speaking of recoveries Bishop Auckland Derby would rather you didn't. Halfway through the singles games in their match with Bishop Auckland King's Head they led 4-1 lead thanks to wins from Andrew Delve, Gary Dixon, Stuart Milne and Steve Lowther, whilst Mark Heward was the only visiting winner. The next five singles all went to the Kings with wins for Malcolm Parry, Kevin Watson, Mark Heward, Steve Taylor and David Baird. The doubles were halved with the visitor's Malcolm Parry and Kevin Watson taking the first and the host's Andrew Delve and Gary Dixon the second. Steve Lowther took the captains for the Derby to leave them trailing by the odd point.

Durham and District League
Spennymoor Voltigeur had the long travel to Horden Big Club and were rewarded with only five points. The Voltigeur lost the first two games then came back strongly to take the next three games but Horden recovered to hit a purple patch where they won six out of the last eight. Gary Deluce, Ged Evans and Shaun Williams all won two games for Horden, with Steve Wylie and John Bourne adding one each. The Voltigeur points came from Andy Mole with three and Paul Wrightson and Darren Briggs one each.
League leaders, Consett Stateside were shocked on their visit to Bowburn Hare and Greyhound but managed to edge through to win by the odd point. This was sufficient to keep them two points ahead of Sacriston Daisy Hill B, who lead third placed Horden Big Club by nine points.

Crook Individual Knock Out Cup
Ia delayed First Round match, the league champion, David Craggs went one down to Les Scott. Things were looking poor for the champion when Scott cleared to the black, but them missed a simple pot, which would have put him in a commanding lead. Craggs took advantage of Scott's poor positional play in the third to lay tight snookers and then clear up. The fourth frame saw Craggs approaching his best and he ran out a comfortable victor.
In the first of the quarter finals, where the matches are the best of seven frames, the league runner-up Michael Burke looked to be coasting his way into the semi-finals when he took the first three frames against Adam Martin. However Martin showed great determination and ability as he levelled the match to take it into a decider. Burke just managed to get the edge again in the decider and progressed into the semi-finals.
The remaining quarter finals matches will be played at Crook Coach and Horses on Monday evening.
