There were no surprises in the Archbold Trophy the only thing that players and spectators alike had to put up with was the inclement weather.
Although the ground conditions were against good constuctive football we still had some very good ties even if the scores were high, Tindale WMC carried on their run with a 7-1 victory over Darlington Archdeacon, Tindale led three nil at the break, on the turnround Brian Gibson pulled one back but when Tindale added a fourth some heads dropped and Tindale scored at regular intervals after that, the goals were shared around between Craig Burbeck, Lee and Paul Foster, Gary Whittaker, Andrew Fairley, Ashley Wilson and Shaun Pull.
Darlington Dalesman struggled to field a side with most of their regulars missing, those who did play put up a good show but were no match for Shildon Elm Road WMC who ran out comfortable winners 12-1, Carl Dawson led the scoring with four, abrace went to Richard Nash, Darryl Meadows and Chris Ross, Stuart Hall and Craig Dawson scored the other two, Nigel Hogg netted Dalesmans consolation.
The youngsters of Darlington GSOB put up a fight against Stillington The Royal even though they went behind to two goals in the first five minutes, Royal went on to add another two before half-time, in the second the pattern was very similar with Royal adding three and Old Boys unable to get on the score sheet although they did hit the woodwork. Peter Kitching hit a couple with one apiece for Ian Jenkins, Paul Cleary, Lee O'Connell, Craig Norman and man of the match Wayne Muldowney.
Darlington Travellers Rest went through at the expense of Darlington Skerne Park who are still having trouble lasting the distance by six nil, Chris Marksby led the scoring with a hat-trick followed by one apiece for Stuart Alderson Steve Appleby and Paul Griffiths.
In the only league fixture Hurworth Emerson Arms came from 2-1 down at the interval to win 4-2 against Darlington The Mowden, Mowdens problems sterted in the second half when they had a player dismissed then one went off injured to leave them with nine players and Emerson took their chances,
Kelvin Russell was again on target with a couple for the homeside, Chris Liddle and Anthony Scott the other scorers. For Mowden we had an Adam Wilson header and a lob from Rob Smith.
