THE town of Shildon is no stranger to football glory.
Now a girls team is hoping to bring more honours to the County Durham town.
Just weeks after the town's football team travelled to Notts County for an FA Cup clash, Sunnydale Comprehensive School's Under-16 girls hope to bring back the silverware when they meet Framwellgate Moor School tomorrow. The girls travel to the Riverside ground at Chester-le-Street for the final of the Durham County Cup.
To get there they have beaten tough competition from Easington, Willington, Parkside, Seaham and Durham Johnston.
A place in the final also ensures both Sunnydale and Framwellgate Moor a place in a national schools competition.
Team coach, teacher Malcolm Dover, said: "The girls have done well to get this far. We are expecting a tough game and we are looking forward to it.''
The squad includes Laura Gibbon (capt), Deborah Kirtley, Lauren McDonnell, Carrie Whensley, Jennifer Jennings, Natasha Wood, Emma Walton, Jenna Hindmarch, Becky Thompson, Kirsty Wilson, Lyndsey Denham, Lisa Harrison and Cassie Allison.
