Women's Northern League Division One, Chester-le-Street 4 v S Durham R's 2: Chester-le-Street went back to the top of the league after winning a physical encounter at Moor Park.
Laura Darmody opened the scoring after ten minutes, then doubled the advantage on the half hour mark. Natalie Gutteridge made it 3 v 0 then Rachel Furness scored goal number four for the Cestrians before limpping off with a re-occurance of a knee injury which will sideline her for several weeks.
South Durham pulled one back through Sarah Flatman before half time and after the break made it 4 v 2 through Carry Ann Ross. This week Chester Le Street travel to Crook Town in a top of the table clash which Crook will be deperate to win. Kick of is 2pm.
In the Intermediate Division a Kelly Moorhead goal and an Amanda Ross hat-trick couldn't prevent Chester Le Street Development from taking the honours. Goals from Michelle Trott (2), Lyn Stanley, Helen Hunter and Leanne Clark gave the Cestrians second string a 5 v 4 victory.
Spraire Lasses
Wearmouth 2, Spraire Lasses U10s 1
Very hard fought game. Three near misses first half, Beth Weller hit the post. Beth and Rebecca had an excellent game. Clare made several good saves. Nicola scored second half.
Boldon 7, Spraire Lasses U10s 2
Extreme weather conditions made playing difficult but Spraire Lasses were even at half-time with goals from Rebecca and Nicola. Second half much harder. Spraire Lasses missed seventh team member. Boldon look more experienced.
Spraire Lasses U10s 1, Lumley 0
The team also played a friendly against Lumley Ladies U10s at the Reynolds Arena at half-time during the Darlington v Scunthorpe game. Both teams gave the spectators plenty to cheer with Spraire Lasses winning 1-0.
