THE Chester-le-Street Town FC under 18s team made football history on Tuesday by going through to the fourth round of the FA Youth Cup.
A 2-1 third round victory on Derby County's Pride Park ground takes the Cestrians into uncharted territory in the competition.
It is the furthest any non-league team's youth side has progressed in the history of the FA Youth Cup.
Goals by Andy Bulford and Martin Urwin saw Chester-le-Street to victory at Derby, for whom Dan Martin was the scorer.
Manager Andrew Muxworthy's team now face a fourth round trip to either Upton Park or the McAlpine Stadium to meet the winners of the West Ham v Huddersfield third round tie.
Tuesday's win was Chester-le-Street's third win over league opposition in their cup run, having previously beaten three fellow non-league teams. They then won 2-0 at Hartlepool in October and followed that with a fabulous 5-3 victory over Port Vale, at Moor Park, last month.
Chester-le-Street's progress in the cup has mirrored their success in the Tyneside Junior League.
They are top of the table with eight wins from nine games after a convicing 6-0 success at West Denton last Saturday.
