Newfit Services Willington: No one dare say 13 is unlucky to the players of Sunnybrow Brown Trout B for after 12 consecutive defeats they finally landed their first win of the season in comprehensive style at Willington Black Horse Tavern with a three points success.
The Tavern had singles wins from Gary Brunskill, Malcolm Marriott and Aynsley Rainbow, whilst the trout levelled with wins from Malcolm Buchan, Freddie Whitfield and Ray Corner. The home side took a doubles through Marriott and rainbow but the trout took doubles through Andy Fitzpatrick with Ray Corner and Ian Stoker with Freddie Whitfield and then clinched victory by taking the team game.
The Victoria Club's hopes of climbing back into title range were dashed when they only managed two points from their trip to Willington Lion and Unicorn, who moved up to third place following their five points victory.
Michael Pickering, Dave Hawkins and Arthur Goldsborough took singles for the home side but Alan Richardson, Ian Breen and Alan beck levelled. However that was the last point the Victoria scored for Alan lee with Kevin Hill, Dave Hawkins with Michael Pickering and Stephen Goldsborough with brother, Arthur took all three doubles and finished by winning the team game.

Tow Law Coors
Esh Stag's Head had to stage a late recovery to edge through to an odd point win over the visiting Sunniside Comedian. The home side made a good start when they took both the trebles points but then only managed singles wins from Ken Brown and Keith Robson. The Comedian had singles wins from Bill Railton, Dave Ferguson, Bob Peacock and Dave Walton. The visitors then moved one point short of victory when Bill Railton and Ray Johnson took the first doubles. However the Stag's took the second to set up the decider where John Hodgson and Keith Robson took then to victory by beating Colin Edwards and Bob Peacock.
Despite being at the foot of the table there as a dazzling performance from Alan Spence of Tow Law Rose and Crown when he won singles, doubles with Dave Bruce and finished by taking the captain's game against the visiting Tow Law New Market B.

Crook Ladies League
The top of the table clash went to the deciding team game but Crook Queen's Head A were able to complete their 23rd unbeaten match when they came from behind to beat the visiting second placed, Crook Jelly's Bar B by the odd point. Jelly's went ahead by taking the singles at four-two but the Queen's closed the gap when they took the doubles by one point and snatched victory by taking the double points team game.
This result leaves the Queen's Head A eight points clear at the top with a match in hand over Crook Jelly's Bar B, who are 18 points ahead of the third placed Victoria Club.
The leading individual scorers of the week were Jackie Clark 140 for Jelly's B, Mary Crossling 133 for Belle Vue.

The League's Open Singles qualifiers were held at Crook Royal Sun, Crook Coach and Horses, Crook Mill House and Crook Golden Fleece with the winner from each moving forward to the semi-finals to be played at the end of the season.
