Winter Scramble: A scramble is always a popular competition both in winter and summer and last Sunday was no exception, with excellent scoring, Ian Smith's team carding 12 birdies, but only managing third place to the winning team of Kevin Rayner who also had 12 birdies but had a better handicap allowance.
Both teams returned gross 60s. Leading scores: 56.9 Kevin Rayner, Mike Greenwood, John Forrester and Martin Fuller (3.1hc); 57.6: Derek Harle, Kevin Clinton, Simon Bishop and Kevin Scott (7.4hc); 57. 8 Ian Smith, Steven Whitwham, Ian Ratcliffe, and Mark Smith (2.2hc), also Ian Morris, Bill Barclay, Pauline Morris and David Munton (4.2hc). Seniors
A full clubhouse enjoyed their dinner supported by the club captain David Blades and his wife Shirley. Speeches Shirley Blades presented the prizes to the winners of the competitions as follows:
Barclays Bank Cup, Rob Kennedy and Trevor Robotham Peter Pan Trophy (Overs 75s), Norman Routh; Hunter Cup, Jim Brunskill; Eclectic, Gareth Jones. Seniors Medal, Jeff Hulse; Members Cup, Noel Winstanley.
The final presentation of the evening was the John Ward Cup. This was presented by Judy Ward the late John Ward's daughter-in-law to Norman Routh. This cup will be presented annually to the winner of the seniors outing in memory of the late seniors secretary John who died earlier in the year.
