A DOCTORS' surgery is hoping to improve its services to patients by building an extension.
The Bewick Crescent Surgery, in Newton Aycliffe, has applied for planning permission to add two new GP trainer consulting rooms, a new accounts room and a sub-waiting area.
The application has drawn a strong objection from the owner of the neighbouring property.
A long list of concerns raised with planners include fears of increased traffic and parking, loss of privacy, increased drainage problems and concludes by claiming it would be "a waste of tax payers money".
The application will be heard by Sedgefield Borough Council next Friday, when planners will recommend approval.
A report to the meeting says: "Surgeries should normally be located within or on the edge of town, local or village centres. They should be located close to bus stops, have level access and car parking.
"Surgeries need to be in locations that are accessible to the whole community, including those with disabilities and parents with young children.
"There can be little doubt that the location of the Bewick Crescent Surgery fulfils these criterion".
