A LIFE-SAVING charity has received £5,800 in donations.
Yorkshire Air Ambulance trustee, and legendary cricketer, Freddie Truman was presented with cheques from the regional branch of the Association of Car Fleet Operators and the Durham and Yorkshire branch of the Scots Guards Association.
He said: "The Yorkshire Air Ambulance costs £1m year to run and relies predominantly on voluntary donations.
"We need support like this to safeguard the future of the service.
"If everyone in Yorkshire donated little more than 20p a year, we would be able to run the charity no problems."
The Association of Car Fleet Operators raised £4,500 at its ninth annual dinner at the Hilton Bradford Hotel, in October.
North-East regional chairman Nigel Allsopp said: "We have raised about £46,000 for various charities in Yorkshire over the last nine years.
"A lot of the incidents attended by the Yorkshire Air Ambulance are road traffic accidents and, because we are involved in the motor trade, it seemed like a great cause to support."
The Durham and Yorkshire branch of the Scots Guards Association raised £1,300 at a three-day event in September in Ripon and Ripley, in North Yorkshire.
Among the guests was the Duke of Kent.
Association branch member Stewart Webb, who lives in Baldersby St James, near Thirsk, said a two-day event for the same charity was planned at the Lightwater Valley theme park, near Ripon, on September 11 and September 12 next year.
