A FORMER bus company employee is on the road to a new career following a visit to his local library.
Wesley Hopper, 36, had worked for a transport company for 18 years when he decided he needed a career change.
"I realised that to change my career I needed to have some understanding of computers so I started an Open Learning course at Ferryhill Library,'' said Mr Hopper.
From his new start, Mr Hopper became a volunteer for the Open Learning programme, supporting other learners at the library and Chilton Community College.
"While doing my voluntary work, I learned of job vacancies in the Open Learning team and was successful in getting one,'' he said.
This week Mr Hopper was among 35 people from the west of Durham who recently received certificates from North West Durham MP and Government Chief Whip Hilary Armstrong at an Integrated Access awards ceremony at Ferryhill Library.
