A MUSICIAN from the region will draw on her Celtic roots to perform at the Royal Albert Hall on December 17.
Horn player Kate Chisholm, from Stirling Road, Redcar, received her Master of Arts degree in Music performance last month and is now studying at Leeds University.
The British Telecom band will perform to a capacity audience and Kate will make her solo debut with a performance of Cry of the Celts.
Kate, whose ancestors are from Scotland, said: "Standing to perform to so many thousands will be the highlight of my career.
"Being a Chisholm, I have much empathy for my Celtic roots."
Thirty of her ancestors were killed at the battle of Culloden in 1746, and one of her ancestors, Hugh Chisholm, was the last person to shake hands with Bonnie Prince Charlie as he left for the Isle of Skye following his defeat in the battle.
