AN almshouses in the region has been unable to find a sponsor to donate a Christmas tree to stand in the centre of its 17th Century courtyard.
A local businessman used to donate a tree each year to the almshouses at Kirk-leatham, near Redcar, east Cleveland, and then one of the local Rotary clubs helped out, but so far this year no one has come forward.
Peter Sotheran, chairman of the board of trustees, said: "The almshouses recently completed a major renovation scheme and its own funds are fully committed to the final payments for the building work. Sadly, we do not have funds to spare for extra luxuries at present.
"We have all the lights and I am sure, if someone can help us to find the tree, we can find the fairy to go on top."
Anyone willing to help is asked to contact Mr Sotheran on (01642) 471662.
