MP'S VISIT: North West Durham MP and Government Chief Whip Hilary Armstrong visited North Bitchburn, near Crook, and was impressed by the community spirit.

The major issue residents raised concerned the state of the village streets, many of which are unadopted. Parking and speeding cars were also serious concerns at Saturday's event.

POPPY APPEAL: Crook branch of the Royal British Legion have thanked everyone who supported a poppy appeal that raised £2,060.

CAROL CONCERT: Crook and Weardale Choral Singers will perform Rotary Carols at Crook Methodist Church on Saturday, at 7pm. They will be joined by St Cuthbert's RC Junior School Choir and Wolsingham Comprehensive School Choir. On Tuesday, December 16, the choir will sing at a nine lessons and carols service in the Church of St Michael and All Angels, Frosterley, at 7.30pm.

POSTAL SERVICE: Crook Methodist Church members are delivering Christmas cards in Crook on Friday. Cards can be left at the church or at the Crook Community Partnership Office, 79 Hope Street, up to Thursday, between 9am and noon.
