YOUNGSTERS are making special wishes for loved ones and people across the world on an imaginative school Christmas tree.
Pupils at Crook Primary School are replacing the usual baubles and tinsel on their Christmas tree with handmade decorations carrying their own wishes.
The idea came from the school's house captains, year six pupils who act as a think-tank for the school, as a way to raise money for charities such as The Butterwick Hospice.
The captains made decorations to sell to classmates for 30p. Wishes are then written on the back of the decorations and hung on the tree to see if they come true.
Assistant headteacher Angela Malkin said: "The children wanted to think about others at Christmas and this way they can make a wish for someone they care about and support charity.
"They are keen to help because the money will go towards helping less fortunate children so they, and their parents, are supporting the idea."
