COUNCIL bosses have promised there will be no let up on the campaign to stamp-out benefit fraud in Scarborough.
Six people have been through the courts on charges of fiddling a total of £14,000 in benefits.
Director of corporate services with Scarborough Borough Council, Trevor Teasdale, said he is pleased with the outcome so far.
"The sentences handed out by the court signal the local authority's intent and determination to tackle benefit fraud,'' he said.
Anyone who may be able to help catch other culprits can telephone the Fraud Freephone Hotline on 0800 0568154.
"We will continue to use everything in our power, including working with other agencies, to tackle benefit fraud on behalf of everyone in the borough," said Mr Teasdale.
Arrangements to repay overpaid benefit can be made by calling the council's control section on (01723) 232351.
