THREE bus drivers have been commended by the public for their good work.
The men, who work for Arriva North East and are based at the depot at Loftus, near Saltburn, were also praised by bosses for being courteous and professional.
John McGowan was described by a teacher to be "very helpful" and "unusually patient," when she was travelling with three students from a special school.
Tony Loughron received praise for his quick-thinking and evasive actions which prevented a potential accident when a car pulled out unexpectedly in front of the bus.
Peter Roberts was described by one customer as an asset to the company after he helped an elderly woman on and off the bus.
Steve Noble, managing director of the company, thanked the drivers.
He said: "It is very encouraging that customers take the time to tell us when they feel a driver has been particularly helpful and has made their journey easier.
"Every commendation received is passed on to the driver concerned and is kept on file so that any reviews take account of the positive feedback received.
