A MAN has been left with serious head and leg injuries after a car crash.
Andrew Ainsworth, 26, from Ryedal Avenue, in Redcar, Teesside, was injured when the dark blue Citroen Xantia car he was driving was involved in a collision with a silver Vauxhall Cavalier car on Tuesday.
The accident happened at the Scarborough end of the A64 Malton bypass in North Yorkshire at Scagglethorpe, near the entrance to Beck House Farm, at 9.15pm.
Mr Ainsworth was taken to York District Hospital before he was transferred to Leeds General Infirmary, where his condition yesterday was described as comfortable.
The driver and front seat passenger of the Cavalier, both from Malton, suffered lower leg injuries and were taken to York District Hospital.
The A64 was closed for five hours while police examined the scene and carried out a reconstruction of the collision.
Any witnesses to the incident have been asked to call PC Paul Merrit, at Malton Police Station, on (01723) 500300.
