A MUSEUM has vowed to continue its fight to secure the future of a piece of aviation history, even though it already has a scale model of the same aircraft.
The sole remaining Blackburn Beverley is among aircraft that have been on show at the Army Transport Museum, in Beverley, east Yorkshire, which recently went into liquidation.
The Yorkshire Air Museum at Elvington, near York, has offered the aircraft a home, and is waiting to see if the owners will agree.
In the meantime, a 10ft model of the plane arrived at the museum yesterday.
The replica flew at model airshows until a crash in the summer of last year.
It was rebuilt for static display and was offered to the museum.
Yorkshire Air Museum spokesman Ian Richardson said: "We are delighted to have the model, which is impressive in its own right.
"However, we are waiting to hear about the destiny of the real aircraft, which is the last of its kind.
"We understand lawyers are currently trying to establish who owns the plane, but we have already made it clear we want to see the Beverley saved, and would be delighted to offer it a home.''
