TICKETS are on sale for a Newton Aycliffe school's annual show.

Peace, Politics and Toilet Rolls will be performed over three nights, starting tonight, at Greenfield Community and Arts Centre, at 7pm. A matinee performance will also be held for the local primary schools.

The original musical score has been written by General National Vocational Qualification (GNVQ) performing arts students and the script has been developed over three months as part of the course.

The aim of the course is to give pupils the experience of working in a professional theatre environment.

The singers have also recorded a compact disc of music from the show, under the direction of John Melvin.

The performance forms part of the final assessment for the year 11 pupils aiming to achieve the performing arts qualification, which is the equivalent of four GCSEs.

The show tells the story of three men: a prime minister, a factory owner and a new-age traveller.

All three men are looking for something new in their lives, and their stories are told in songs and dance routines.
