AN energy company moved swiftly to insulate a couple's home in time for a special delivery.
Julian and Lynsey Davies had contacted Durham Energy Savers six months ago to receive advice about cavity wall insulation at their home in Hawthorne Road, Ferryhill.
But they lost the contact telephone number they were given and thought no more about it.
That was until last Tuesday, when Mrs Davies, 26, went into labour and made a frantic telephone call to her husband, asking him to return home quickly to take her to hospital.
Mr Davies, 31, said: "I pulled out all of the baby stuff we had in a drawer and this guy's phone number dropped out.
"My wife was having contractions five minutes apart and all she kept saying was 'we'd better ring them and get it organised'. It was one of those daft things."
Baby Jake was born just after midnight. But remembering his wife's pleas on the night before, Mr Davies contacted the firm.
The company swung into action and contacted contractor Cosytherm, which arranged to carry out the insulation work on Friday - just before mother and son returned home.
Mr Davies said: "It normally takes about three or four weeks to organise, but because the baby was coming out of hospital they pulled all the stops out and got it done."
Durham Energy Savers is a grant scheme for insulation in collaboration with the local authorities in County Durham and Teesside, and Durham Energy Advice. Funding is provided by ScottishPower.
Mr and Mrs Davies had their property insulated for £150, after receiving a 50 per cent grant.
