A 41-year-old man accused of murdering a paedophile who was beaten to death in his home was appearing in court today.
The battered body of 73-year-old Arnold Hartley was discovered in his dilapidated terraced home in Redcar, Cleveland, more than two weeks ago.
Detectives were met by a wall of silence but after intensive inquiries over the weekend they made three arrests on Monday.
The two other people arrested, a 42-year-old man and a girl aged 16, have since been released without charge.
Mr Hartley, who lived alone, was jailed for a year in 2001 for making indecent images of a girl under 14 and gross indecency. The man was due to appear before magistrates in nearby Guisborough.
