CHESS enthusiasts are invited to join a club that is being set up in Darlington in the New Year.
The club will be open to players of all abilities and will meet twice a month at St Herbert's Church Hall, in Yarm Road.
Two-hour evening sessions will start next month.
Founder David Bracken, 53, said: "Chess is a great game and can be really good fun. I wanted to set up the club to give players somewhere to go where they could have some fun, play a few games and improve their skills.
"As long as people know the rules, it really doesn't matter what standard they are. Anyone of any age who is keen to learn and play is welcome."
Once the club is established, Mr Bracken hopes to introduce other board games and set up league tables and competitions.
Members will be required to pay an annual fee to cover costs.
