Mowden Park Under-15s win over Hartlepool Rovers saw action from the start, with the first try coming from Andy Robinson just a couple of minutes into the match after Chris Hossell broke through the Rovers defence and ran almost to the try line before passing the ball with only their full back to beat.
Steven King kicked the conversion to put Mowden seven points up.
Despite some big breaks by Mowden and big runs coming from Patrick Saunders, Mathew Gee and Adam Gardner, Rovers managed to prevent a further try being scored in the first half and a failure to make tackles, saw Mowden concede a try around half way through the first half, converted by Rovers to make the half time score 7-7.
Mowden's Luke Edwards had a try disallowed just a couple of minutes into the restart. This only strengthened Mowden's resolve and Luke scored an undeniable try just a few minutes later, but Mowden were unable to convert.
Rovers made a concerted effort to fight back and scored five minutes later to bring the score even again, but Mowden's fitness paid off as they scored a further two tries through Andy Robinson and James Watmore, neither converted.
In the last seconds Rovers conceded a penalty around 38 metres out on the wing and Mowden new boy Jason took his first kick for the team and sent the ball sailing clear between the posts. The final whistle saw the score Hartlepool Rovers 12, Mowden Park 25.
Mowden Park Under-13s had a rematch against Durham City having beaten the previous week 53-7.
However, it was clear from the start Durham defended solidly from the start, making it difficult for Mowden. After ten minutes of cut and thrust, however, Mowden's scrum half, Michael Harris won the ball from the scrum, dummied inside then passed to winger Adam Walker, who collected a difficult ball and then showed his opposite number a clean pair of heels to touch down in the corner for his first try for the club.
Durham continued to stifle attacks and the half time whistle blew with Mowden clinging to a 5-0 lead.
From a Phil Smith run a ruck formed on the Durham 22m line, and when the ball was fed out to Alex Gray on the blind side, he made a superb run to be brought up just short of the line. George Alley was first to the ball as he had been on so many occasions and with good support from the rest of the pack, Paul Marwood drove powerfully over for a second Mowden try.
Still Mowden continued to attack and from a scrum on Durham's 22m line, as the ball was picked up by the Durham scrum half, Mowden's flanker and scrum half Oliver Pearce and Jamie May reacted superbly to flatten the unfortunate player, causing him to knock on. From the resulting scrum, the ball was fed out to captain Tom Catterick on the crash and he surged through for a try, which he converted for 17 -0.
Durham were still not beaten though, scoring a deserved try to the side of the posts for 17- 5. There was still time for drama, and when the Durham number 8 broke through and looked odds on to score, Tom Catterick, excellent as captain, chased him down and tackled powerfully to end the threat. Final score was Durham 5, Mowden 17.
The Under-17s travelled to Sunderland for the second time this season, to meet a squad depleted of backs. With this in mind, they were always going to have an advantage and it was not long before they could make this apparent, with a good play moving the ball each way across the pitch before Chris Dodd broke from the back of a maul and scored. Mark Zissler converted. Chris Davies scored in the corner, then some good work from John Lewis allowed Adam Hunt to run in for the third try. Sunderland pressed forward for a while, but this only left a greater space at the back, and Jason Elliott made a typical individual run, then converted his own try with a drop kick. The continual pressure was beginning to tell on Sunderland, and they lost two to injuries - from this point Mowden made up the numbers for their opponents. Once play restarted, a misunderstanding after a line out in the corner allowed captain Richard Littlefair to run in confused but unopposed, and fortunately realise his luck in time to touch down near the posts. Mark Zissler's conversion kick marked the end of the first half.
A loss of concentration, and some missed tackles after the restart allowed Sunderland over for their sole score of the match, before the ball found its way along the line to Jason Elliott, who again set off to score an individual try in the corner.
A good clearance kick to touch by Sunderland led to the notable move of the match as Jason Elliott took a quick throw in to Mark Zissler, and they together made ground. The big lock forward Michael Francis collected from the ruck and made 30 metres before being tackled ten metres short of the line. He managed to pop up a difficult pass to hooker Tom Parfitt, giving good support on his shoulder. Parfitt held on well and made the last few metres to score his first try for Mowden.
In the final minutes, full back Jason Elliott again used his speed to evade the substitute Sunderland winger, but was bundled into touch. Mowden stole the ball at the line-out, and Richard Littlefair drove through in the last action of the match to leave the final score Sunderland 5, DMP 46.
