Bishop Auckland and District League: Spennymoor Ash Tree clinched the League Championship after a play-off with Crook Olde Horse Shoe, who have held the title for the last few years.
The Spennymoor team won home advantage on the toss of a coin and played at the Weardale, their new home whilst retaining the name they used when entering the league.
The first four matches all ended in the players taking one point each. With the Ash Tree names first, the results were Steve Hunter drew with Stephen Liddle; Paul Biddle drew with Richard Walker; Richard Turner drew with Gavin Witton; Steve Jones drew with Cliffy Owens. Ronnie McAloon then made the break through for the home side when he beat Johnny Mason in both games. The Spennymoor team then took the Championship when Steve Hunter and Ronnie McAloon beat Richard Walker and Cliffy Owens in the doubles.
In the semi-finals of the League Doubles Championship Steve Webb and John Collinson of Henknowle Manor qualified for the final by beating Andrew Delve and Stuart Milne of Bishop Auckland Derby 2-0 at Crook Olde Horse Shoe, whilst Steve Balanaves and Kevin Stewart of Bishop Auckland Snooker Club beat Barry Thexton and Paul Frame of Witton Park Rose and Crown 2-1 at Spennymoor Weardale.

Auckland Area League
Bishop Auckland King's Head managed to turn victory into defeat when they contravened league rules by fielding a player in all three disciplines (singles, doubles and captains).
The King's started well with Kevin Watson and David Jacomb taking the first two singles games against the visiting Bishop Auckland Grand A. Alan Sokell and Rob Dalton replied for the Grand but David Baird restored the home lead. Shaun Reynolds and David Baglin edged the visitors ahead until Steven Taylor, Steven West and David Baird took the last three for the King's to give them a two points lead after the singles. Shaun Reynolds and Lee Ellison took the first doubles for the Grand with David Jacomb and Mark Heward taking the second for King's.
Mark Heward then played and won the captains match but, because he had also played in a singles (even though he lost) and doubles game, then all points attributed to him are automatically given to the opposition. This means that two points are deducted from the King's and added to the Grand's total to leave them the odd point winners.

Crook Individual
Knockout
The first semi-final between the league winner, David Craggs and the runner-up, Michael Burke began with fireworks as Craggs broke off and finished dry with Burke clearing up for the first frame. The second was completely the opposite as Burke broke without potting a ball and Craggs cleared.
The high standard was maintained throughout with the best of nine frames match all producing tight pool, although Craggs always just seemed to have the edge and he went out as the 5-3 winner.
The semi-final between third placed Johnny Mason against early league leader who faded towards the end, Lee Scott who ended as the winner 5-2. The final between Craggs and Mason over a best of 11 frames will be played at Crook Coach and Horses on Monday, Dec 22 at 8pm.
Durham County
Ithe final match of the season in the region One Inter-Counties Championship Durham A came away from Cleveland with a very good 29-15 victory team with the B team also winning by ten points, but the Ladies went down to defeat.
The star of the Durham A team victory was Dave Harrop of Consett, who went through his four games unbeaten. The B team had four wins from four matches for Carl Little, Kevin Stewart and Tom Lowdon.
The Ladies team were up against it from the start as they were short of two players. However, from their 31-13 defeat Helen Littlewood made three wins from four outings and hopefully did enough to qualify for the England trials. Durham's Kay Brannen also won three of her four games.
The Durham County Chairman, Barry Dowson retired and was presented with a cue and case to mark his 20 years service to both local and county leagues. He will continue to work behind the scenes but is taking a back seat and aims to just enjoy playing pool. The County and Super League players contributed towards the purchase of the cue and case, which were handed over by Chris Bowran.
The Durham County men's trials will be held at Sacriston Daisy Hill on Sunday, January 4 with an 11.30 registration time. This is not just for current players but for any players from any local leagues who would like to try to reach County standard.
The first County match of the new season is away to Northumberland on Sunday, January 11.
