HER soccer legend father was a famous pop flop - but Laura Keegan hopes to score a hit with her first record.

The daughter of Manchester City boss and former Magpies favourite Kevin Keegan has launched her pop career with a string of club dates and a single.

Kevin hit the Top Ten in 1979 with the best forgotten Head Over Heels, only to disappear from the pop scene for ever.

Now 25-year-old Laura is taking up the mantle and her goal is to become the next superstar Keegan.

Laura, who still lives in Wynyard, Teesside, thrilled youngsters at the Sweet night, at Gateshead's Baja Beach Club with a sneak preview of her forthcoming single - Come To Me.

The Sweet night was held as a reward for Newcastle youngsters who have managed a 100 per cent school attendance record.

With the backing of major labels, Laura's single is set to be released in the New Year and is influenced by her early life in Spain.

Laura said: "I lived in Spain for about six years and that's where I got into dancing and the whole performing thing.

"The single has a lot of the Spanish side, with Flamenco guitars and quite a Latino feel. I'm really pleased with it."
