A CHURCH that has undergone a major refurbishment this year is about to re-open to parishioners.
Building work has been taking place over the past three months at St Andrew's Church, in Haughton, Darlington.
An inspection by building experts in 2000 concluded that the wiring in the church was potentially dangerous and in need of repair.
This has been addressed and changes have also been made to the church's West Tower, including the re-opening of the Norman Door.
The building has also been made more accessible to wheelchair users.
The first service in the refurbished church will take place on Sunday.
An official opening event has been arranged for next month.
