A VISION of how communities can work together to create a sustainable future for Middlesbrough has been unveiled.
Action 2020 has been created by Middlesbrough Environment City (MEC) and Middlesbrough Council to detail the work taking place in the town by a range of local businesses, agencies, voluntary groups and individuals.
Among the projects featured in the report is the home composting project, where local households supply their kitchen and garden waste, which is then turned into compost by volunteers and returned to households free of charge.
Free composting bins are also supplied to households who want to compost waste themselves.
Councillor Barry Coppinger, executive member for community protection, said: "The report is testament to the enormous amount of work that people are doing every day to improve the quality of life for everyone.
"There are initiatives taking place to improve air quality, contribute to reducing our impact on climate change, improve the employability of young people and make our economy more sustainable. The list is endless."
Copies of the Action 2020 report are available from MEC, which can be contacted on (01642) 264954, or the www.menvcity.org.uk website.
