CHRISTMAS tree recycling will be easier than ever in the New Year.

Ten villages across the Hambleton district have signed up for tree recycling stations.

Residents will also be able to take them to household waste recycling sites, as well as placing them in their green wheelie bins.

The council is setting up tree collection points in Great Ayton, Swainby, Danby Wiske, Ingleby Cross, Kirby-in-Cleveland, Faceby, Appleton Wiske, Potto, Newby and Crathorne.

They will be in place by New Year and open until January 12, when all the trees will be collected for chipping.

Householders using the wheeled bin refuse collection system can place their chopped up trees in the green bin, but are asked that only small trees are included.

Larger trees should be taken to the household waste recycling sites in Northallerton, Thirsk, Stokesley and Leeming Bar.

Tholthorpe waste site will collect the trees until January 11.

Everyone recycling their festive decorations can enter a free prize draw for a UK weekend break, fleece jacket and wine glasses.

To enter, collect a voucher from the household waste centre. Households putting their tree in a wheelie bin will automatically be entered.
