BOSTON United officials last night denied making an offer to sign Adam Boyd on a permanent basis.
The Hartlepool United striker has just extended his loan at York Street after impressing in his first month.
Pool boss Neale Cooper said the club had received an offer for the home-grown player, but he was unwilling to let him leave.
"They asked, but I told them not at the moment," explained Cooper. "Adam has gone back for another month and the ball is in our court. We just want to see him play consistently.
"He has been doing well and I would rather these lads went out on loan and received good reviews.
"I am monitoring his situation and we have had good reports. It is up to us if we want him back."
But Boston general manager John Blackwell claimed: "As far as I know we have not put a proposal on the table. We wanted Adam for another month and that is as far as it went."
Cooper is keen to allow his squad players to move out on loan to play regular football. Marcus Richardson, Paul Arnison, Kevin Henderson and Anthony Williams have all joined Boyd in moving out.
Henderson turned his loan move to Carlisle into a permanent one and Richardson is back at Lincoln for a second time after Cooper recalled him from Sincil Bank in October.
Cooper yesterday released Australian defender Adam van Domelle and youth team goalkeeper Kevin Duncan.
* Leeds caretaker-boss Eddie Gray has hailed the impact of back in-form forward Mark Viduka - and is now expecting a flood of goals. Viduka ended a nine-game drought on Sunday with a stunning strike in the vital 3-2 win over Fulham, with Gray hoping the Australia international has finally found his shooting boots again.
The 28-year-old had clearly lost his way in the final weeks of Peter Reid's reign, but he has now found a new lease of life.
''Since I've come back to the club, Mark has been terrific,'' stated Gray. ''I've never had any problem with Mark, who is a top-class striker, someone I rate as one of the top four or five in the country.
''I said a few weeks ago Mark Viduka will start scoring goals and once he does then he will go on a run - I'd like to think he will now.''
