THE Christmas dinner has not even been eaten, but already thoughts are turning to the balmy days of next summer.

Not letting the grass grow under its feet, Scarborough Borough Council has launched its holiday guide for next year.

And some stunning images of the coast and countryside by leading Yorkshire photographer Joe Cornish dominate the publication.

The cabinet member for tourism and leisure, David Jeffels, said the publication was just what the authority needed as it looked forward to a successful summer.

Photographs by other local photographers, such as Adrian Gatie, Andy Bulmer, Alan Curtis, Paul Wilson and Tony Bartholomew, have also been used to give the guide a fresh look and to emphasise the diversity of the area.

Coun Jeffels said: "Having photographs by Joe Cornish in the guide is a real coup for the council, and we are delighted that his excellent images and those taken by other respected local photographers will give the guide a high-quality, professional feel.

"To begin with, 160,000 copies will be printed, as the council and our partners in the leisure and accommodation fields set out to ensure that next season is equally, if not more, successful than this year."
