PEOPLE living in two parts of Darlington are being invited to make a New Year wish for their communities.

Residents of the Cockerton East and North Road areas of the town can make written contributions to a "wishing well" that will be available in Cockerton Library and the Morrison's supermarket in North Road, next month.

People will be invited to fill out cards expressing what they think of their area at present and suggesting ideas as to how it could be improved in the future.

Children can also provide written descriptions or pictures of what they want to see in their neighbourhoods.

The project is being organised by regeneration specialist Martin Wood, in conjunction with Darlington Borough Council.

The "wishing well" will be operating in Cockerton Library on Wednesday, January 7, and at Morrison's the following day, both from 10am to 5pm.
