SANTA'S reindeer took a break from the hectic festive build-up by calling into a North-East visitor attraction to bring some Christmas cheer to visitors.
Children were able to get up close to the reindeer during the brief stop-off at the Life Science Centre, in Newcastle.
There was also a special treat for two of the young visitors, who were celebrating their birthdays.
Ten-year-old Harriet Herdman, from Gosforth, and seven-year-old Joe Storey, from High Heaton, both Newcastle, were guest passengers in Santa's sleigh pulled by the reindeer in a Christmas parade around Times Square, outside the Life centre.
Harriet said: "Seeing the reindeer was great. They were really friendly, with lovely soft fur.
"Sitting with Santa on the parade was really good. It was a lovely birthday present."
The festive spirit was continued at the centre with carol singers from the Northumbrian Youth Chamber Choir, who serenaded skaters on the Times Square temporary outdoor rink.
The rink will remain open daily, except for Christmas Day, until January 25.
Further information on rink times and fees is available from 0191-243 8210.
