PRIMARY school youngsters will benefit from new sports equipment after a ten-year-old pupil won a national competition.
Lesley Hogg received £400 worth of JJB Sports vouchers when she entered a competition run by Dairylea cheese.
The money goes to her school, Rosa Street Primary School, in Spennymoor. Lesley has been given a further £50-worth of vouchers for her personal use.
Headteacher Colin Craggs said the money would be well spent on the school's sporting teams, which have enjoyed some success this year.
He said: "We were really surprised when Lesley told us she had won the money and obviously we are delighted.
"It will go a long way to buying strips for the sports teams. We have done very well in both the athletics and football.''
