POLICE are warning people to make sure their doors are locked after four men were seen acting suspiciously.
Darlington police received a number of calls from people in the Mowden area of the town on Monday night. All reporting sightings of the men.
One woman in Staindrop Crescent reported disturbing the four men in her hallway at 8.30pm. They were chased off her property by her dog.
The first report was at 7.45pm, when a resident in Lunedale Road reported seeing four men climbing over a fence into a garden.
Another report was received from a resident in Lunedale Road, saying they had seen four men in gardens in the street.
At 8.10pm, a woman contacted police reporting that someone had tried her door handle. And at 8.45pm the men were also seen in nearby Conyers Grove.
The men were wearing casual coats and winter clothing and one was wearing a hat.
Police are warning people to ensure their houses are secure to avoid becoming a victim of crime this Christmas.
They are also asking anyone with information to contact them on (01325) 467681.
