A MOBILE computer suite which aims at encourage adults to learn has been hailed a success by education bosses.
Backed by the BBC, North Yorkshire County Council's Discovery Bus has been visiting towns and villages across Richmondshire, offering residents a chance to go online and learn a variety of computer skills.
Adult basic skills tutor Julie Simpson said: "It is an absolutely fantastic facility. It has provided us with the opportunity to go out into the community and raise awareness that there is learning for all available out there."
People who visited the bus were also asked what sort of educational courses would interest them. Lessons are available across the district for people who want to improve their reading, writing or numeracy skills, catch up with computer technology, learn languages or reflexology.
North Yorkshire County Council's executive member for education, Councillor Chris Metcalfe, said: "Many adults think education stops when they leave school at 16 but it doesn't.
"There are some fantastic opportunities available for adults, whether they are 16 or 76, through this service, which are not just educational, but a lot of fun too."
