GRAPHIC arts and equipment supplier Inkland Ltd has been bought by a team led by managing director Steve Wilson.

The management team celebrated their success by winning the company's largest equipment order, worth £250,000.

Inkland, of Newton Aycliffe, was founded in 1979 by Peter Rippon and his wife Diana, and has established itself as the North-East's largest supplier of reprographic equipment and materials, providing a same-day service to the regions commercial printers.

The company's electronics division also provides specialist computer and workflow support to its customers.

Mr Wilson said: "Inkland has grown rapidly thanks to the contribution of its electronics division.

"This makes it the ideal time for us to purchase Inkland to ensure the company continues to capitalise on our recent success."

Jonathan Simpson, newly appointed finance director, said: "We are in a difficult industry but perfectly placed to drive the company forward. The management buyout will strengthen Inkland's financial footing, allowing it to stay on top of industry developments."

Law firm Ward Hadaway handled the buy-out.

Corporate finance partner Martin Hulls said: "Inkland is one of the North-East's good news stories, so it was a pleasure to act on its behalf. I am sure the new team will continue to build on the firm's successes to date."
