A MAN appeared in court yesterday charged with causing the death of a teenager on Christmas Eve.
Paramedics tried to save the 16-year-old after the accident, which happened as he rode a moped on the A189 in Cramlington, Northumberland.
The accident happened shortly after 10pm on the southbound carriageway.
Police and paramedics were called but the youngster, from Blyth, died.
A 43-year-old driver from the Newcastle area was given a roadside breath test. He was arrested and charged with causing death by dangerous driving and driving with excess alcohol.
