THE world-renowned Northern Sinfonia is to perform in east Durham.
The orchestra will be joined by conductor Harry Christophers and soprano Gillian Keith for a recital at The Community Theatre, in East Durham and Houghall Community College, Peterlee, on Friday, January 16, from 7.30pm.
At the end of the performance, the audience will be invited to move to the college refectory to listen to the 1940s swing jazz by Djangology.
Featuring violin, acoustic guitars and double bass, the band celebrates the music of Stephan Grapelli and Django Reinhardt.
Northern Sinfonia's concert will be a dramatic hour of light and darkness bridging church and concert hall.
The Mozart virtuoso motet, Exultate Jubilate, which was written by the composer just before his 17th birthday, will be performed along with two Haydn symphonies Numbers 26 and 49.
Tickets priced at £4, £3 concessions and £1 for under-16s, are available from the college on 0191-518 2000.
