A Darlington teenager will celebrate his coming of age with a flight over his home town, thanks to his mother.
Steven Harrison turned 18 on Boxing Day. To celebrate, his mother, Christine, has provided a flight over Darlington for him and his girlfriend, 19-year-old Julie Black, from Stockton.
She had won the gift at the Darlington Neighbourhood Watch Christmas party in a raffle. It was donated by Cybertronics, in Darlington.
The couple will take the flight, from Teesside Airport, next week.
Steven, who is studying for an entry to uniformed services course at Darlington College of Technology, with a view to becoming a firefighter, said: "I think mum thought it would be nice to give me the prize, it is something different that we will remember for my 18th. We are really looking forward to it."
On Boxing Day, Steven celebrated his birthday with a party for family and friends at the family home in The Mead, Darlington, followed by drinks in town.
