A PLANNING appeal has been lodged against Darlington Borough Council's decision to refuse permission for a bungalow to be built on the outskirts of the town.
The authority's planning committee refused permission for the bungalow, at 1 Snipe Lane, on September 5.
Members refused permission, because the site was outside the approved development boundaries, as identified in the Local Plan, and because it would be detrimental to the character of the landscape in an area of high landscape value.
They also said there was no demonstrable need for such a building and its development would be contrary to national planning policy.
The applicant has appealed to the Secretary of State for the Environment and representations are invited on the development.
Anyone wishing to make representations should do so in writing by January 12. Three copies need to be sent to The Planning Inspectorate, 3/26 Hawk Wing, Temple Quay House, 2 The Square, Bristol, BS1 6PN.
