A COUNCIL is seeking more people to join its pioneering foster care scheme.
Sunderland City Council launched its innovative Foster Care Worker Scheme in 1999. It offers ongoing training and extra funding for people looking after children.
Recruits to the scheme get £15,882 to £16,941 a year, plus an allowance for each child in placement as well as guidance and advice on childcare developments.
People interested in joining the scheme can find out more at an open evening to be held next Thursday at the Leechmere Training Centre, Carrmere Road, on Grangetown's Leechmere Industrial Estate, starting at 6.30pm.
People can also call the council's fostering team on 0191-382 3108 for further details.
