TWO students from Bishop Auckland college are putting their sports science course to practical use.

Stephen Hanson and Dean Wilson are working part time in semi-professional football as sports therapists, under the guidance of lecturer Barry Dawson.

Many courses at the college combine theoretical and practical work to give students an insight into the world of work.

Dean said: "It is fantastic gaining first-hand experience and knowing there is always someone there from the college to support and advise us."

Mr Dawson said: "Both students have excelled in their course and have demonstrated a natural ability as therapists.

"I hope these are the first of many students who will come through the college system and support local sport".
